Sighting Their Quarry

The king and his hunting party had been tracking the elusive creature for nearly a fortnight when they finally stumbled upon their quarry. Oh, the kings of the neighboring lands may well have captured a few rare and exotic golden hinds and unicorns between them-- but neither of them could claim a Teal Deer for his menagerie.

As soon as the party returned to the castle, and the deer was placed in its pen, the king set his scribes to composing a very long proclamation recounting the thirteen day trek in great detail, ending on his success... Unfortunately, the letter was so lengthy and exhaustive that everyone who tried to read it got bored halfway through, never got to the actual announcement, and decided to go see the unicorns and golden hinds instead...

I've been wanting to do this painting for awhile now, so I was glad to find this contest and finally have an excuse to paint it.

The meme I've used, for those of you who don't get it, is 'TL;DR', an acronym for 'Too Long; Didn't Read', which is usually seen as a reply to really long 'wall of text' posts. It's also sometimes said phonetically, as 'Teal Deer'.
